About Subscriptions

What is a subscription?
Subscriptions are private language labs available anywhere there is Internet access. The subscription owners control both the people who create pronunciation examples and the people who learn.

Who can use a subscription?
Subscriptions are ideal helpers for language teachers and speech language pathologists. Their students or clients can practice pronunciation skills using content created by the teacher or by a contractor. Teachers at a school can create pronunciation examples that can be used by all students at the school.

How many learners can use a subscription?
There are no limits on the number of learners. There are bandwidth limits as defined in the Terms of service.

Create a subscription
An individual or an organization can create a subscription.

Categories
A group can identify itself with a specific goal. These include language preservation, literacy and immigrant training. Categories help potential members understand the group's goals.

Language and accent
A subscription can be used to promote one or more languages. The subscription can also choose to promote a specific accent. For example, a group could promote "Canadian" or "International" English. The subscription administrators can choose an existing accent or create a new one.

Who can see the content?
Only subscription members can see the content.

Primary and secondary contact
A subscription is created and managed by a primary contact. This person creates the subscription and assigns content creation rights to other users. The primary contact can also designate another subscription member as secondary contact. The secondary contact has the same rights as the primary contact but the primary contact is the person we contact with respect to billing.

Subscription membership
The primary contact assigns content creation privileges to contributors and learners. Each contributor is assigned creation privileges for one or more languages.

How to join a subscription
Subscription owners control access to their content. A school or teacher grants access on any basis they want. Only registered Chuala users can become subscription members. The subscription owners first ask learners to join Chuala. They can then be granted access to the subscription.

How is a user removed from a subscription?
Access to a subscription is part of a business relationship between an individual and the subscription owners. The subscription owners can remove users for any reason. See the Terms of Service for more information.
